kenneth shandu
Artist biography
Kenneth Shandu was born in 1993 KwaMbonambi in KwaZuluNatal, South Africa. Currently based in Durban. He is a South African practicing contemporary artist. Kenneth works with a variety of found materials to make drawings, prints and installations. The body of his work addresses the issues of homelessness inspired by Diane Victor, Anselm Kiefer and Kay Hassan. Kenneth won the Runna-up award for PPC Imaginarium in sculpture 2019, he also won the Emma Smith Art Scholarship award in 2019, he was selected as the finalist for Sasol New Signature Art Competition in 2018, and he worked as an assistant curator at DUT Art Gallery. Kenneth participated in Thupelo Art Workshop 2018 and Artist Career Boot Camp Programme 2019. Kenneth participated and exhibited in the number of group exhibitions in Durban and Johannesburg. He is currently studying B-Tech in Fine Art and tutoring printmaking at the Durban University of Technology.
